I love Quora.com! When you have a burning question, you can post it and let other people answer it for you. It works really well. If you really like one answer, you can upvote it, which helps the expert who wrote the answer.
Quora has also brought in subscriptions where people pay for access to monetized content. And this makes sense. It would be hard for me to spend hours on the site answering questions without any compensation.
Which brings me to my first-ever payout. I officially made US$10.66 from my answers on the site. Now, I know that it’s a tiny amount but it’s still an income stream. Not only am I adding to my content, I can keep on benefitting from the answers already published on the site. That’s the beauty of digital content: it’s digital and online, so it can keep on giving.
It gets better!
And it gets better! I browse green questions about landscaping, gardening and lawn care to see what people need help with. Some of the best questions can become full blog posts. Not that I’m in any danger of running out of blog post ideas. I work as a landscape professional during the day so my notebook is filled with blog post ideas.
It’s fascinating to see what burning questions people have. By far the most asked question about lawn care is: Can I mow in the rain? I’m not sure why.
Repurposing content
Repurposing your content is a brilliant idea. I’ve taken previously published blog posts and assembled them into eBooks. This can be done by topic, say, lawn care, and by views. It makes sense to publish the most viewed content.
One example is my recent eBook “Vas on Grass” where I answer thirty-three of the most pressing lawn care questions. Yes, ‘can I mow in the rain?’ is in there. Since the content is ready, the eBook just needs a bit of editing. It’s for sale online but if you email me (vas@greenfirstlandscaping.com) I can send you a free pdf copy. Your reward for reading this far into my blog post.
My latest project is creating an eBook with answers on landscaping which is a broader subject than lawn care. I will take the most-viewed answers and assemble them into one eBook.
If you prefer listening, there will an audiobook version. I won’t be reading it but it will sound like me because, thanks to AI, I have my voice cloned, ready for action.
