Frost rules!
Frost makes plants look awesome in winter, but there is a small price to pay. Like when you’re at work, and your site is covered in frost. You know you’ll have to deal with frosty conditions for at least two hours, until the sun comes down.
I shot some of the photos on a Saturday, as I walked to the SkyTrain, dressed warmly and relaxed. It was like a game. Shoot local plant species and see if I can identify all of them. Take a look at the pictures and ask yourself the same question. How many of the plants can you identify?
Missing grasses
Now, while I really enjoyed the look of frosty plants, one thing was missing: ornamental grasses. That’s because rogue employees cut them down two months too early, even ones I personally tied up. There’s no explanation for this kind of shoddy work.
Tall ornamental grasses, like Miscanthus and Calamagrostis, look great with their flower spikes covered in frost. Sadly, idiots robbed us of a good show.
