Just a test, don’t worry!
I’m excited to publish my first AI-assisted video in this blog post but don’t worry, the writing will always be my own. I love writing blogs so that part will never be off-loaded on AI bots. But, I do like the idea of turning my blog posts and other documents into videos.
Many landscapers I know hate reading but they love watching videos. So it makes sense to create some content for those people. And now I have found a new way of doing that quickly.
Rhodo pruning
The video below covers the key point about rhododendron pruning in a one minute video. If you haven’t seen my earlier blog post, here’s the key:
Prune Rhododendrons soon after flowering, before new buds set for next year. If you do any major rhododendron pruning after this time, you will lose flowers next year. The video shows a picture of side-by-side rhododendron shrubs. The left side got hammered with power shears in late summer; the right side went untouched. The picture was taken the following summer and it’s clear what happened.
AI-assisted version
The key point mentioned above was made into a one minute video using AI avatars. AI also made slight alterations to my original text so I combed through it to make sure I was happy. I’m the boss here at West Coast Landscape Pro. I suspect some people will prefer to watch the video and that’s fine.
I subscribed at Synthesia and copied over my written blog material. Then I added avatars and my blog logo. That’s it. Then I had to wait for manual approval which is tricky on Christmas Day. I have no idea how busy they are in the UK.
Manual approval is required because chances are great people would abuse the system. Since the avatars repeat your written lines, you could easily get them to say stupid stuff. This blog is family-friendly but I still had to wait. One of my videos had the word “kill” in the title so it got flagged right away.
What do you think?
Check out the one minute video and send me comments. Do you prefer reading text or watching AI avatars repeat my lines? Watch for lots of new content coming out in 2024.
I appreciate every single visitor and viewer on this blog site and on its sister YouTube channel.
Happy New Year!!
