Can Aspen fuel help your landscaping business?

Aspen surprise

This past fall, I was on a site in White Rock to install roughly ten cedars (Thuja occidentalis). And when I backed up my truck, I had to watch for another landscape truck which was almost in my way. Not only did this add stress to my day, I also didn’t like running into landscapers on a site we maintain.

But, I need not have worried. The owner of the small design and build landscape company was very friendly. When he made me laugh, his workers rushed in from the back, wondering if there was a fight to break up!? What are we, savages?

And then, I noticed it. That familiar red plastic jug of Aspen fuel, sitting next to a small chainsaw. I was slightly surprised because, while the fuel is 99% cleaner than regular gas, it’s also way more expensive. So I had to ask the dude about it.

Foreshore Equipment sells the 5L jug for $32.95 or $6.59/L

Aspen love

He loved his Aspen fuel! Why? Because he’s worried about his worker’s health? Maybe. But the key point is that the fuel is much gentler on small engine parts. Which means fewer break downs and downtime, plus significantly reduced repair costs. That’s what business owners love: reduced costs and higher profits.

Note that the fuel comes pre-mixed with oil and no conversion is required. You can put it in and run your small engine.

The other key point to note here is that small design and build landscape companies usually don’t run machines all day. Therefore, they use less fuel and they’re better able to absorb the higher cost of the fuel.

And if you were to interview the workers, they’d tell you that they love having lower exposure to pollutants on their job sites. Here it was a water feature installation in a small shaded back yard.

Speaking of workers, if you read about Aspen fuel, you’ll find out that it was originally developed in Sweden. When Swedish lumberjacks started developing leukemia, it was time to develop a cleaner fuel for their chainsaws. And Aspen was born.

Foreshore Equipment

My favorite landscape supply dealer!

If you’re interested in using or testing Aspen fuel, visit one of the Foreshore Equipment locations. They will be able to answer your questions and sell you the correct version. I believe there is also a blue bottle 4-stroke version for mowers, without oil. It retails for $30.95 or $6.19/L.

The orange 2-stroke engine formula comes pre-mixed so you don’t have to buy oil. A 5L jug retails for $32.95 or $6.59/L.

Test it out and see if your machines break down less. The owner I met in White Rock swears the fuel is much gentler on his machines.
